Phase 1: Nahu (Arabic Syntax)

This foundational phase focuses on Arabic sentence structure and grammatical analysis, making sure students are equipped to break down and understand any sentence they encounter. The primary goals of this phase are to improve sentence construction and reading comprehension, and develop fluency in grammatical analysis.

Duration: 6-8 weeks (Flexible based on student progress)

Key Learning Areas:

• Understanding Arabic Sentence Structure – Learn the basic and advanced sentence structures in Arabic, such as nominal (ismiyya) and verbal (fi’liyya) sentences. Understand grammatical components: Mubtada (subject), Khabar (predicate), Fi’l (verb), Ism (noun), Harf (particle), etc.
• I‘raab (Case Endings) – Study the case endings for nouns, adjectives, and verbs, including nominative (raf‘), accusative (nasb), and genitive (jar). Understand how case endings change based on sentence position.
• Identifying Grammatical Roles in Sentences – Master the ability to identify subjects, objects, and complements within Arabic sentences. Learn to analyze and interpret complex sentence constructions.
• Reading Arabic Text Without Diacritics – Develop the skill to read and understand text without diacritical marks, focusing on reading fluency and comprehension. Practice reading from the Holy Quran and other classical texts.
• Practical Sentence Analysis – Apply sentence analysis techniques to real Arabic texts, including exercises derived from the Quran. Analyze complex verses and break them down grammatically for better comprehension.

Phase 2: Sarf (Arabic Morphology)

In this phase, students will explore Arabic word structures, focusing on how words are derived and how verb forms are constructed. Mastery of Sarf is essential for advanced reading and understanding of Arabic texts.

Key Learning Areas:

• Understanding Masdar (Root Word) – Learn the concept of Masdar (root) and how Arabic words are derived from it. Study patterns of verb forms and how each verb form changes the meaning.
• Verb Forms and Conjugation – Master all verb forms (from form I to form X), including regular and irregular verbs. Learn how to conjugate verbs in different tenses and apply these conjugations in real-world texts.
• Verb Derivation – Study how to derive words from the root (Masdar) and their corresponding verb forms. Learn the different verbal patterns and how they impact the meaning of a word.
• Advanced Verb Analysis – Engage in in-depth analysis of verbs, understanding their derivations, meanings, and grammatical uses. Focus on verbs in both simple and complex forms, particularly in classical Arabic and Quranic language.
• Applying Sarf Concepts to Quranic Verses – Use the Holy Quran to practice verb and word derivation. Understand the different forms of verbs used in Quranic verses and how they influence the meaning and interpretation.

Phase 3: Integration and Practical Application

This phase ensures that students can integrate Nahu (syntax) and Sarf (morphology) to read, analyze, and understand Arabic texts with fluency and precision.

• Comprehensive Text Analysis – Combine knowledge of Nahu and Sarf to analyze Arabic texts in detail. Study and break down Quranic verses, Hadith, and classical Arabic literature.
• Advanced Sentence Construction – Build complex Arabic sentences with correct syntax, applying advanced grammatical rules. Gain confidence in speaking, writing, and reading Arabic proficiently.
• Sarf & Nahu in Quranic Context – Analyze Quranic verses in light of Sarf (verb derivation) and Nahu (sentence structure). Explore the impact of grammar on meaning in sacred texts, improving comprehension of deeper meanings.
• Grammatical Exercises and Practice – Regular exercises from the Holy Quran and classical Arabic texts. Practice grammatical analysis and verb derivation for mastery of the language.
